Improving Comfort and HVAC Efficiency with Destratification Fans for Event Venues & Banquet Halls
Event venues and banquet halls must maintain comfortable conditions across spaces that can change dramatically from one event to the next. A ballroom may sit nearly empty during setup and then fill with hundreds of guests, lighting, audiovisual equipment, catering operations, and production equipment within a matter of hours.
High ceilings and large open floor plans add another challenge. Conditioned air can accumulate well above the occupied area instead of reaching guests and performers. Airius destratification fans can help venues distribute that air more effectively, maintain consistent temperatures, and support existing HVAC systems without requiring extensive ductwork modifications.
The Challenge
Event venues experience some of the most variable heating and cooling loads of any commercial space. Crowds, stage lighting, production equipment, catering operations, exterior doors, and changing event configurations can quickly alter indoor conditions. In high-ceiling ballrooms, studios, and performance spaces, warm air can also rise far above the occupied zone, creating significant temperature differences from floor to ceiling.
Rock Lititz Studios in Pennsylvania faced this challenge inside its 52,000-square-foot production-rehearsal facility. The enormous space had to maintain consistent temperatures while accommodating lighting rigs, camera systems, structural steel, extensive cabling, and sensitive sound equipment. Any air-circulation solution needed to work around that infrastructure while remaining quiet enough not to interfere with production.
Smaller venues can experience the same underlying problem. At Versatile Arts in Seattle, a 1,200-square-foot aerial performance studio with 30-foot ceilings became stuffy during summer while heat accumulated overhead during winter because of limited ventilation and poor circulation.
The Airius Solution
Airius fans can provide controlled circulation throughout large event spaces, helping conditioned air reach occupied areas while reducing temperature stratification across tall, open interiors.
For event venues and banquet halls, two Airius systems are particularly well suited.

Air Pear EC Series
The Air Pear EC Series provides the flexibility and long-throw airflow needed for large ballrooms, rehearsal facilities, exhibition spaces, and event halls with high ceilings. Multiple models accommodate ceiling heights ranging from approximately 15 to 100 feet, allowing airflow to be matched to the scale of the venue. Its focused columnar airflow helps return conditioned air from ceiling level to occupied areas, while EC motors provide variable-speed operation and integration with BACnet or 0–10V building controls. The Air Pear Series is also proven in demanding performance environments. Rock Lititz uses Model 100-EC fans installed approximately 90 feet above the floor, while Versatile Arts uses Model 45-P4 fans in its 30-foot-high aerial studio.

Q EC Series
The Q Series EC is particularly well suited for banquet halls, performance venues, music spaces, theaters, and other environments where effective circulation must remain acoustically unobtrusive. Its specialized motor mounting system is designed to reduce operational noise while providing gentle, consistent air circulation. Models can serve ceilings up to 50 feet, and EC motor options allow variable-speed operation and building-control integration. Airius specifically identifies auditoriums, theaters, music venues, and entertainment spaces among the applications for the Q Series.
Potential Benefits
A properly engineered Airius installation could help reduce floor-to-ceiling temperature differences, improve comfort throughout guest and performance areas, reduce stagnant zones, and help existing HVAC systems distribute conditioned air more effectively.
Variable-speed operation can also help venues respond to changing occupancy, increasing circulation during crowded events and reducing it during setup, rehearsal, or lightly occupied periods. By improving air distribution rather than simply increasing heating or cooling capacity, venues may also be able to reduce unnecessary HVAC runtime while maintaining more consistent guest comfort.
Proven Results
Rock Lititz Studios operates a 52,000-square-foot production and rehearsal facility designed to accommodate large-scale concert and entertainment productions. The facility’s approximately 90-foot installation height, extensive rigging, structural steel, wiring, lighting systems, cameras, and sensitive sound equipment created an unusually difficult air-distribution challenge.
Accu-Aire Mechanical Services selected Airius Model 100-EC fans to provide destratification throughout the space. Installed roughly 90 feet above the floor, the units deliver gentle airflow into the occupied zone without interfering with the facility’s acoustics or production infrastructure.
Following installation, Rock Lititz achieved more consistent temperatures throughout the large rehearsal space while maintaining the quiet environment required for professional music production. The project’s mechanical engineer reported that even from the 90-foot installation height, the fans provided the slight airflow needed at floor level without compromising the facility’s other systems.
Better Airflow is your next big event
Every venue has different ceiling heights, capacities, event schedules, acoustical requirements, stage configurations, HVAC systems, and production infrastructure. Airius systems can be selected and controlled around those conditions, using Air Pear EC fans where long-throw circulation is required and Q Series EC fans where acoustic performance is particularly important.
The objective isn’t simply to condition a large empty room. It’s to maintain comfortable conditions when that room becomes an event.
