- Retail & Q Series
The Boathouse Tavern is a popular bar, bistro, and gaming venue designed around a 40-foot Riviera Cruiser Boat featured within its main bar area. The venue needed an efficient way to improve customer comfort throughout the year while addressing very different airflow requirements created by its combination of low and high ceilings.
Airius assessed the venue and plotted airflow circulation patterns to determine the best solution for the different areas of the building. Airius Retail Series fans were installed in the lower-ceilinged bar areas to provide airflow and evaporative cooling.
For the high-ceilinged bar area, the ultra-quiet Airius Q Series was installed with variable speed control. During summer, the fans could provide higher-velocity airflow for an immediate cooling effect. During winter, the speed could be reduced to gently recirculate warm air accumulating near the ceiling back toward floor level. This allowed the same system to improve comfort and HVAC efficiency throughout the year. The Airius installation delivered immediate improvements in comfort for both customers and staff while reducing seasonal energy costs.
Key benefits included:
- 32% reduction in summer cooling costs
- 25% reduction in winter heating costs
- Immediate cooling effect during hot weather
- Improved comfort for customers and staff
- More effective circulation of warm air during winter
- Faster drying of drink spills and wet floors
- Improved circulation of culinary aromas throughout the venue
- Reduced carbon emissions
- Quiet operation suitable for a bar and restaurant environment
The Boathouse Tavern project demonstrates how one airflow system can address both summer cooling and winter heating challenges within a hospitality environment.
By combining the compact Retail Series with variable-speed Q Series fans, Airius was able to accommodate different ceiling heights and airflow requirements while improving year-round comfort. The result was a 32% reduction in summer cooling costs and a 25% reduction in winter heating costs, along with a more comfortable environment for customers and staff.
