A leading distribution center in Ft. Mill, South Carolina, faced significant challenges with sweating slabs, particularly during the fall months. This issue, which occurred mostly at night and into the morning, created hazardous slip conditions. The facility needed a cost-effective and logistically viable solution to eliminate this slip hazard.
The sweating slab problem was most severe during the transition from warm days to cold, rainy nights, leading to dangerous working conditions. The facility’s design and engineering team sought an effective solution to address this persistent issue.
The team contacted Airius for assistance. After gathering detailed information about the space, Airius proposed a layout featuring their Air Pear Series fans. With a total of 10 Air Pear Series fans strategically placed throughout the facility. These fans were evenly distributed at ceiling level and designed to work in concert to project air from the ceiling to the floor in a controlled column, effectively mixing the air and preventing stagnation.
The Air Pear Series fans provided gentle air movement across the slab and between hard-to-reach conveyor areas. By continuously capturing warm air near the ceiling and projecting it down, the concrete slab’s temperature was maintained above the dew point, effectively preventing sweating.
The installation of Airius Air Pear Series fans at the distribution center in Ft. Mill, SC, successfully the sweating slab issue, providing a safer and more comfortable working environment.
