Improving Showroom Comfort and HVAC Efficiency with Destratification Fans for Auto Dealerships
Auto dealerships are designed to showcase vehicles in bright, open environments, but those same architectural features can make the showroom difficult to heat and cool efficiently. High ceilings, expansive glass walls, large floor areas, and frequently opened entrances can create significant temperature differences throughout the building.
Airius destratification fans can help dealerships distribute conditioned air more effectively, maintain a comfortable environment for customers and staff, and reduce unnecessary demand on existing heating and cooling systems.
The Challenge
Modern auto showrooms often combine high ceilings with extensive glazing, creating challenging conditions in both winter and summer. During colder weather, heated air naturally rises and accumulates near the ceiling instead of remaining where customers and employees spend their time. Even facilities using underfloor heating can experience significant heat buildup above the occupied zone.
During warmer months, solar gain through large showroom windows can increase cooling demand and create hot areas throughout the building. HVAC systems may compensate by running longer or at more aggressive settings without fully addressing how conditioned air is distributed.
Uneven temperatures can also develop between showroom floors, offices, mezzanines, and customer areas. In one Volkswagen showroom, temperature stratification allowed warm air to collect overhead while floor-level areas remained noticeably cooler, creating both comfort problems and additional HVAC demand.
The Airius Solution
Airius fans can continuously circulate conditioned air throughout the showroom, reducing temperature stratification during winter while improving the distribution of cooled air during warmer conditions.
For auto dealerships, two Airius systems are particularly well suited.

Retail EC Series
The Retail Series EC is particularly well suited for modern auto showrooms where performance, appearance, and quiet operation are all important. Its compact design provides effective circulation without introducing large rotating blades into the showroom environment. During winter, the system helps return accumulated ceiling heat toward customer and staff areas. During summer, increased circulation can improve cooling and help distribute conditioned air more evenly throughout the showroom. Variable-speed EC operation allows airflow to be adjusted seasonally or according to changing indoor conditions.

Suspended EC Series
The Suspended EC Series provides an excellent option for dealerships with suspended ceilings or areas where a more integrated installation is preferred. The system can help reduce hot and cold spots while maintaining a discreet appearance within customer-facing environments. It is particularly useful for showrooms, offices, customer lounges, consultation areas, and other dealership spaces where maintaining a clean architectural appearance is important. Variable-speed EC motors also allow airflow to be coordinated with existing building controls.
Potential Benefits
A properly designed Airius installation could help reduce floor-to-ceiling temperature differences, improve comfort for customers and employees, distribute heating and cooling more evenly, and reduce unnecessary HVAC runtime. During winter, destratification helps keep heated air within the occupied zone instead of allowing it to remain near the ceiling. During summer, improved circulation can help distribute cooled air throughout large showroom areas and reduce localized hot spots caused by glazing and solar gain.
Better temperature consistency can also help dealerships maintain a comfortable customer environment without continually adjusting HVAC settings to compensate for individual problem areas.
Proven Results
Toyota Kilmore needed an efficient year-round heating and cooling solution for its approximately 500-square-meter showroom in Victoria, Australia. The 6.5-meter-high space combined high ceilings with underfloor heating, creating a need to keep warmth at customer level during cold winters while also providing effective cooling and circulation during hot summer conditions.
Twelve Airius Retail Series R20 EC fans were installed throughout the showroom to work alongside the existing heating and air-conditioning systems. Following installation, the dealership reported consistent, even temperatures throughout the showroom and improved comfort for customers and staff. The fans provided effective circulation while remaining quiet and visually unobtrusive alongside the showroom lighting.
The installation also gave the dealership a single circulation system capable of supporting both winter heating efficiency and summer cooling rather than addressing the two seasons separately.
Show off better airflow
Every dealership has different ceiling heights, glazing, showroom layouts, offices, customer lounges, HVAC systems, and architectural requirements. Airius systems can be selected and positioned around those conditions, using Retail Series fans where compact, targeted circulation is needed and Suspended Series fans where integration into the ceiling environment is preferred.
The objective isn’t simply to heat or cool the showroom. It’s to keep the conditioned air where customers and employees actually experience it.
