Improving Comfort and Climate Control with Destratification Fans for Warehouses
Warehouses often combine large open floor areas, high ceilings, dense pallet racking, loading zones, and changing levels of activity throughout the day. These conditions can make it difficult to maintain consistent temperatures and effective airflow across the entire building.
During summer, solar gain through large roof areas and heat generated by equipment can cause significant overheating. During winter, warm air can accumulate near the ceiling while employees remain in cooler conditions at floor level. Airius destratification fans can help improve circulation, reduce temperature stratification, and make better use of existing heating and cooling systems.
The Challenge
Warehouses rarely experience uniform conditions throughout the entire facility. High ceilings and expansive roof areas can contribute to significant heat buildup during warmer months, particularly in buildings with limited insulation or few windows. Racking, conveyors, stored products, and structural elements can further restrict airflow and create stagnant areas or overheated picking aisles.
During colder weather, the same building can experience the opposite problem. Heated air naturally rises toward the roof, leaving employees working below in cooler conditions while the heating system continues operating.
Warehouses storing temperature-sensitive products face an additional challenge. Uneven temperature and humidity conditions around pallet racks can potentially affect product quality even when the overall building appears to be within an acceptable range.
Lush Cosmetics experienced severe summer overheating inside its more than 3,000-square-meter Sydney warehouse. Roof heights ranged from approximately 6 to 10 meters, insulation was limited, and existing HVLS fans were not providing sufficient cooling throughout the building.
The Airius Solution
Airius fans can provide targeted circulation throughout warehouse environments, helping move air into picking aisles, around racking, across work areas, and between ceiling and occupied levels.
For warehouses, two Airius systems are particularly well suited.

Air Pear EC Series
The Air Pear EC Series is an ideal solution for high-bay warehouses, storage facilities, picking areas, and buildings with varying ceiling heights. Its focused columnar airflow can be directed into difficult-to-reach areas while helping reduce temperature stratification throughout the larger warehouse volume. Multiple models allow the system to be matched to different ceiling heights and coverage requirements. Variable-speed EC motors also allow airflow to be adjusted according to seasonal conditions, work activity, and individual warehouse zones.

Onyx EC Series
The Onyx EC Series is particularly well suited for warehouses where stronger cooling-focused airflow is required. Designed for powerful circulation in large industrial environments, the Onyx EC can help increase air movement through active work areas, packaging zones, loading areas, and portions of the warehouse experiencing significant heat buildup. Variable-speed operation allows airflow to increase during hot or heavily occupied periods and decrease when less circulation is required.
Potential Benefits
A properly designed Airius installation could help reduce hot and cold spots, improve air movement through picking aisles and around pallet racks, reduce temperature stratification, and create more comfortable working conditions for warehouse employees. During warmer conditions, increased airflow can improve perceived cooling and help address stagnant or overheated areas. During colder weather, destratification can return accumulated ceiling heat to occupied levels and help reduce unnecessary heating demand.
Facilities storing temperature-sensitive inventory may also benefit from more consistent temperature and humidity conditions throughout the storage area.
Proven Results
Lush Cosmetics needed to address severe summer overheating inside its Sydney warehouse, where employees were working in uncomfortable conditions despite the presence of localized HVLS fans.
Airius initially installed 20 Model 45 Air Pear fans as a trial. The improvement was significant enough that Lush expanded the system with an additional 91 Model 45 units and 14 Model 25 fans for areas with lower ceilings. More than 120 Airius fans were ultimately installed throughout the facility.
The larger units were positioned between approximately 7 and 10 meters high, while fans serving warehouse aisles were mounted horizontally above head height to direct airflow between storage racks and into areas that had previously been difficult to reach.
Following installation, employees and management reported an immediate improvement in comfort. The ability to adjust fan direction and speed allowed airflow to be targeted toward specific problem areas, including picking aisles where the improvement was particularly noticeable.
Store Better airflow permanently
Every warehouse has different ceiling heights, racking configurations, loading areas, insulation levels, HVAC systems, product requirements, and work zones. Airius systems can be selected and positioned around those conditions, using Air Pear fans where targeted circulation and destratification are priorities and Onyx fans where stronger cooling-focused airflow is needed.
The objective isn’t simply to move more warehouse air. It’s to get airflow into the areas where employees, products, and operations need it most.
