Creating Consistent Growing Conditions with Destratification Fans for Cannabis Cultivation
Indoor cannabis cultivation depends on tightly controlled environmental conditions throughout every stage of production. Temperature, humidity, air movement, and gas distribution can directly affect plant health, crop uniformity, drying conditions, and overall yield quality.
Grow lights, dense plant canopies, irrigation, dehumidification equipment, and HVAC systems can all create localized environmental differences within the same room. Airius fans can help growers maintain more uniform conditions by continuously circulating air throughout the cultivation space.
The Challenge
Maintaining the correct temperature or humidity at a sensor does not necessarily mean those conditions are consistent throughout an entire grow room. Dense plant canopies can restrict air movement and create localized areas of elevated humidity. Grow lights introduce substantial heat, while temperature and humidity conditions can change rapidly when lighting cycles on and off. High ceilings can also allow significant temperature stratification to develop.
At Craft Industries in Aurora, Colorado, temperature fluctuations and humidity spikes were particularly problematic when grow lights cycled off. Although the HVAC system could regulate overall temperature, inadequate circulation made it difficult to maintain consistent humidity and gas distribution throughout the plants.
Another Airius cannabis installation documented a 15–20°F floor-to-ceiling temperature difference inside a 6,300-square-foot grow room before destratification was introduced, demonstrating how dramatically conditions can vary within a controlled cultivation environment.
The Airius Solution
Airius fans can provide continuous air circulation throughout cultivation rooms, helping reduce temperature stratification, distribute humidity more evenly, and prevent localized stagnant zones within and above the plant canopy.
For cannabis cultivation, two Airius systems are particularly well suited.

Pearl Series
The Pearl Series provides a compact solution for cultivation rooms with lower ceilings or limited overhead space. Its small footprint allows fans to be positioned around lighting, irrigation systems, racks, and other cultivation infrastructure while providing gentle, continuous mixing throughout the room. EC motor options also allow airflow to be adjusted as plant height, lighting cycles, and environmental conditions change. For facilities with multiple smaller grow rooms or restricted ceiling space, the Pearl Series provides targeted circulation without requiring large overhead equipment.

Onyx EC Series
The Onyx EC Series is particularly well suited for larger grow rooms, higher ceilings, and cultivation environments requiring stronger circulation. Designed for both destratification and cooling applications, the Onyx EC helps distribute air throughout large growing spaces and can provide additional air movement where lighting and equipment create substantial heat loads. Variable-speed EC motors and building-control integration allow airflow to be adjusted throughout different growth stages and environmental conditions rather than maintaining one fixed circulation rate. Airius currently identifies the Pearl and Onyx Series as recommended solutions for cannabis cultivation.
Potential Benefits
A properly designed Airius installation could help reduce temperature and humidity variations, improve airflow throughout dense plant canopies, distribute CO₂ and conditioned air more consistently, reduce stagnant microclimates, and help HVAC and dehumidification systems work together more effectively.
More uniform growing conditions can help reduce environmental stress between plants located in different areas of the same room while supporting more consistent crop development and post-harvest drying conditions. Continuous circulation can also help reduce areas of elevated relative humidity where moisture can remain concentrated around plant material.
Proven Results
Craft Industries installed five Airius Model 25 PHI destratification fans to improve environmental consistency throughout its Aurora, Colorado cultivation facility. The system was designed to improve circulation and maintain more consistent temperature, humidity, and gas levels throughout the plants. Air-treatment technology was also incorporated into the installation to address mold, bacteria, and other organic contaminants.
Following installation, Craft Industries reported more uniform plant growth, improved consistency during post-harvest drying, and better coordination between its cooling and humidity-control systems. The facility also reported improved overall environmental stability and reduced plant stress.
Craft Industries’ proprietor described the circulation system as something he would include in any future grow facility because of its ability to help the facility’s cooling and humidification systems operate together more effectively.
Cultivate better airflow
Every cannabis cultivation facility has different ceiling heights, lighting systems, plant densities, growth stages, HVAC equipment, humidity targets, and cultivation methods. Airius systems can be selected, positioned, and controlled around those conditions so airflow reaches the entire cultivation environment without creating excessive air velocity directly across sensitive plants.
The objective isn’t simply to move more air. It’s to create consistent environmental conditions around every plant in the room.
