Apparatus bays present a particularly difficult heating and cooling environment. High ceilings allow warm air to accumulate overhead during colder months, while large garage doors can release substantial amounts of conditioned air every time emergency vehicles enter or leave the station. After the doors close, heating systems must work to restore comfortable conditions at floor level.

During warmer months, large bays can also experience stagnant air, heat buildup, and uncomfortable working conditions for personnel maintaining vehicles and equipment. Vehicle exhaust requires dedicated exhaust and ventilation systems, so supplemental circulation must be designed to complement rather than interfere with those systems.

Standard Onyx EC models provide coverage up to approximately 2,000 sq. ft. and can operate in spaces with ceilings up to 50 feet. Variable-speed EC motors and BACnet or 0–10V integration also allow airflow to be adjusted as station conditions change.

Air Pear EC Series

The Air Pear EC Series provides greater flexibility for stations with different ceiling heights, bay configurations, and coverage requirements. The series is specifically recommended for workshops and garages and offers multiple models capable of serving a wide range of ceiling heights and facility sizes. Its focused columnar airflow can help move accumulated ceiling heat back toward occupied areas without requiring extensive ductwork modifications.
